Bourbon Reviver No. 2

The Reviver No.2 has been a storied cocktail since its origins in the 1930s. The Bourbon Reviver No. 2, also known as the Kentucky Reviver, makes a compelling case for bourbon's place in this classic cocktail. Warm and approachable, it balances the depth of bourbon against the brightness of fresh lemon, the floral elegance of Lillet Blanc, and the subtle citrus sweetness of triple sec. An Absinthe-rinsed glass provides the finishing touch, adding a whisper of herbal complexity that uplifts the entire composition.
Prep Time 10 minutes
Course: Artisan Drink, Mixed Drink

Ingredients

  • ½ oz Absinthia Absinthe Verte rinse
  • 1 oz Bourbon
  • 1 oz Lillet Blanc
  • ¾ oz Triple sec
  • ¾ oz Fresh lemon juice

Equipment

  • Cocktail Shaker
  • Coupe Glass
  • Fine Mesh Strainer
  • Jigger

Method

  1. Rinse a chilled coupe glass with Absinthia Absinthe Verte, swirl to coat the interior, and leave until the cocktail is prepared.
  2. Add the bourbon, Lillet Blanc, triple sec, and fresh lemon juice to a cocktail shaker filled with ice and shake until well chilled.
  3. This Reviver calls for a double strain for a smoother pour and a more polished presentation.
  4. Discard the Absinthe rinse from the coupe glass then strain through the shaker's built-in strainer into a fine mesh strainer.
