I had a wonderful time interviewing with journalist Ben Ari for Thrive Global’s series aboutWhy We Need More Women Founders  Ben asked great questions and made the whole experience easy.

Beyond ambition and passion, it takes patience and resilience to grow a profitable business. Learning to stick with what you start for the long-term is rewarding and challenging. I'm proud of what I started with Absinthia's Bottled Spirits and excited about where my company is going.

I also know what it's like to be dismissed or assumed less credible because I am a woman business owner. I'll never forget the hotel GM who said to me, "Aww, you started a little business!" It felt very condescending when I am here to be taken seriously. Launching an alcohol brand in the US is perhaps one of the hardest things to do, and his comment made me feel absolutely dismissed.

All those moments showed me that the stronger I stand in my confidence and the harder I believe in myself, the more I am taken seriously. I think this is essential for anyone, and especially women, who run their own companies.
